a knowledge that is within reach

"Who is Paris?" , "What is the Odyssey all about?" , "What about the Greek literature?"

These are just some of the questions that bothers our minds when Ms.Noveras told us about the lessons we are going to take up in the first quarter. Some find it exciting, some are bored and some do not have reactions.

Greek Literature, refers to writings composed in areas of Greek influence.Studying Greek Literature gave us unclear beliefs, distracted minds and vague ideas.

"Life is a choice."

Many of us believe in this saying, but upon discovering the Greek literature, our beliefs become blurred. The Greeks believed that their life's fate is ordained by their gods and goddesses. One example for that is the dilemma of Zeus in hector's fate.

The Iliad and The Odyssey, these Homer's  great epics brought us knowledge on how they treat their women. how they protect their homeland and how important their family is.

The Iliad shows about love, power and sacrifice.

The Odyssey exhibits suffering, faithfulness and true love.

Greek women are just care givers, child-bearers, infant's nurturer and men's pleasure giver. They cannot interfere with their husband's decision. They cannot involve their selves in a war. They are like prisoners in their own home. For them, women are JUST women.

Bringing victories, fame and credits for their lands is a big deal. Kings and men like to engage in wars and battles. Each land has their greatest, strongest and mightiest warrior. Each of them wanted fame and glory.

A legendary warrior

Achilles is known as a great and ruthless warrior of the Trojan war. Achilles always shows himself as an unbeatable warrior every time he faces war. He is also the greatest warrior of troy. When Achilles fight he kill his opponent merciless and brutally, just like what he did to Hector, the very noblest of all heroes. Achilles only knew how to be able to gain glory and victory, and how to stay the greatest.

One proof that Achilles is a brutal warrior is when he cut Hector's tendons and tied an ox-hide  in it, tied in his chariot and was drag around the city.

The Iliad book 22 pg.231 paragraph 520

"Achilles finished. Then the noble Hector's corpse he carried out a monstrous act. He cut through the tendons behind both feet, from heel to ankle, threaded them with ox-hide thongs, and then tied those onto his chariot, leaving the head to drag behind. He climbed up in his chariot, brought on the splendid amour, dragging Hector. A dust cloud rise above him, his dark hair spread out around him, and Hector's head, once so handsome, was covered by the dust, for Zeus had given him to his enemies to dishonor in his own native land. So all his head get dirty"

Based on these statements I conclude that Achilles is a true ruthless warrior and do not fear anything even death.

woman: a final masterpiece

"Sure God created man before woman.  But then you always make a rough draft before the final masterpiece. "

Whenever I hear this  saying, it  reminds me of great contributions of GREGORIA DE JESUS during the Spanish regime . She is the wife of Andres Bonifacio, the Father of the revolution. She had been a remarkable Filipina and leave an excellent mark in our history because she serves as the preserver of special documents and "selyos" of the secret group called "Katipunan"during the revolution. Gregoria de jesus is not just an ordinary woman and wife, hence She is an unsurpassed Filipino citizen.

Truly that women are not just a wife, caring provider and nurturer of young infants and children but we should be treated in the same way we treated men and should also be respected. As the quote says "God created man before woman. But then you always make a rough draft before the final masterpiece"

prolonging the success

Taytay United Methodist Christian School has been the number one in the province of Rizal since its first year of educating students. Until now, in its 26 years, the school is on the top.  For this long-standing and splendid success, students vigorously rejoice.

Although the paramount success has been in progress for about 26 years, next age band should allocate their best in prolonging the success of the institution. Perseverance and strength of mind is the recipe for prolonging of the institute’s success. Students should give their best in taking assessments so that learners will give honor to the institution. But above all things   the institutions success are offered to the Almighty God so that the Lords guidance will always be upon the institution

HAVING A SUCCESSFUL CONSECUTIVE YEAR WILL GIVE HONOR TO THE NAME OF THE SCHOOL. WE, STUDENTS, HAVE TO LEARN BY HEART THE FUNDAMENTAL STEPS TO SUCCESS.

1 Corinthians 13

1 If I speak in the tongues of men or of angels, but do not have love, I am only a resounding gong or a clanging cymbal. 2 If I have the gift of prophecy and can fathom all mysteries and all knowledge, and if I have a faith that can move mountains, but do not have love, I am nothing. 3 If I give all I possess to the poor and give over my body to hardship that I may boast, but do not have love, I gain nothing.
4 Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. 5 It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. 6 Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. 7 It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres.
8 Love never fails. But where there are prophecies, they will cease; where there are tongues, they will be stilled; where there is knowledge, it will pass away. 9 For we know in part and we prophesy in part, 10 but when completeness comes, what is in part disappears. 11When I was a child, I talked like a child, I thought like a child, I reasoned like a child. When I became a man, I put the ways of childhood behind me. 12 For now we see only a reflection as in a mirror; then we shall see face to face. Now I know in part; then I shall know fully, even as I am fully known.
13 And now these three remain: faith, hope and love. But the greatest of these is love.

There's still a space for GRAMMAR improvement

Everyday in school, We were taught about GRAMMAR. Its rules, properties, tenses and a lot more. Learning and Applying this is not as easy as we thought. Not all of us were good in writing, grammatical errors were observed, wrong usage of adjectives and modifiers, inappropriate tenses, and others. Upon reading and realizing those errors, I realized that using unfamiliar words doesn't make a sentence look good thus those words make a sentence wrong.

Grammar have a great  impact in writing, using wrong grammar and having errors in writing can make a reader perplexed and confused. Writing is the most powerful tool invented by humankind because it is a tool of the mind. Writing a reference or an article can help people about information, data and facts, correct grammar usage will surely help people who read the reference of article.

There are many ways to improve proficiency in grammar, but the best would be reading a lot of books. Books can help a person a lot in improving, learning and realizing errors in a writing.  As the quote says

"To read is to fly: it is to soar to a point of vantage which gives a view over wide terrains of history, human variety, ideas, shared experience and the fruits of many inquiries."

There is still a space for GRAMMAR improvement!!!

Sometimes, We want to give up because of the challenging steps. But we realized that we are doing this not because of the victory and prizes but for God's Glory, so we continued what we are doing. Days passed and the celebration is coming soon.. yet we still haven't finished our dance prod. We strive hard to finish the prod that  lead to a almost whole week practice.

The day has come, Field Demo is here. Everyone was excited and scared of the results of their exhausting practices. Cheering was the one to present first. We are so nervous. Everybody presented well.

All of our sweat released were worth it, all the pains and the sufferings were worth the glory given to God.

discrimination : a stepping stone

discrimination about white and black
people
Discrimination is the cognitive and sensory capacity or ability to see fine distinctions and perceive differences between objects, subjects, concepts and patterns, or possess exceptional development of the senses.

Example of discrimination was the gap between the white Americans and the black Americans.

Being  discriminated is such an awful thing, Pointing out all the things about you. I haven't been discriminated yet, Thus I am the one who discriminates. I know doing that awful thing hurts their feelings, but sometimes i enjoyed it. Though i did discriminating, i think it is my way of expressing my thoughts, showing my love and appreciating someone's  presence. As I grew up, I noticed people who are being discriminated. I feel compassion for those people.

Dealing with discrimination is tough, but people who are being discriminated should use that experience as their stepping stones to move forward, have progress and build an improved you.

One can learn a lot from a discrimination. Discrimination should not be a hinder in fulfilling one's dream thus a method of obtaining something to fulfill your dreams and reach your goal.

As the quote says " If you believe that discrimination exists, it will."  Stop dealing with what others say about  you. Just believe in what you can , what you have and YOURSELF!

learning from an experience

I grew up in a family with high spirits, filled with love and had a set of reminiscences.
Every daylight hours up to the hours of darkness linger in my mind and my heart because of the true happiness it beget. As time goes by I was used in all those experiences, until I came to the point of my life that I felt like I am contented and pleased with what is happening. Growing up with such a blissful family made an improved me. Years passes by, my family encountered difficulties and problems that lead to my parent’s separation. Though it is hard for us children to bear with it, we have to. I have had sleepless nights, days filled with tears and unsettled minds. I and my brothers stayed at my mother’s house. Many times people around us  argue, I felt like I am inside a castle that was about to fall, in a nightmare that the dreamer’s couldn’t wake up. Each and every night, as I lay down my bed, my tears wouldn’t hinder to fall. Sometimes, we’re on our fathers. I couldn’t explain how awkward it is, feeling like you’re empty.
Every day, getting up, preparing for school and facing the reality.

Before, I waited for my father to send me to school but now my service men fetch me from house to school and vice versa. When I graduated in elementary department, I was expecting my father will walk with me in the aisle, lay the medal on me and say “I AM SO PROUD OF YOU” but that didn’t happened.

Even I stepped in high school for the first time I am looking forward to my father’s care. For us especially for me, being the only daughter, it is painful and terrible to experience those. Two years passed, everything was readily understood, and things are in their place. My parents decided to live together again in one house and one roof. Things easily fall back into place; Happiness arose in each and every one of us for the second time. I am inspired again to continue what I have started, and bring back what I have lost.
Truly this experience gave me a bunch of lessons to learn. Being broken for two years is such painful that it can change my life.  As the quote says “Broken relationships are a source of heavy heartbreak that seem to affect every family”. This  experience will never be forgotten because of the lessons it gave to me.
